Plastic coating for strip galvanized components

Strip galvanized components in accordance with DIN EN 10 346 can also be provided with a plastic coating. Niedax only uses the electrostatic powder coating process. In addition to aesthetic reasons or individual coloring requirements, there are many other reasons to coat galvanised steel. For example, marking cable routes (high voltage, medium voltage, low voltage, communication and IT cables, etc.).

The coating is not an additional corrosion protection.

The COLOR coating is applied using the electrostatic powder coating process. The special features of this high-quality coating process are excellent resistance to cleaning agents and excellent thermal and mechanical resistance. The coating material is halogen-free. The inner surfaces of the COLOR appliance trunking remain bright zinc. They therefore offer good contact for protective conductor connections at any point.

The outer surfaces are only coated in the visible area, with good contact to the rear. It must be specified when ordering if the COLOR device trunking is to be used as a free-standing unit, e.g. as an energy profile.

For COLOR coating, coating powder according to the RAL color chart is used, but customer-specific colors are also possible, provided they are suitable for electrostatic powder coating. Color deviations are avoided as far as possible by processing clearly defined color shades and using the latest process technology. Notwithstanding these precautionary measures, the possibility of minor color deviations cannot be ruled out, particularly in the case of subsequent deliveries (DIN 6175 Part 1).

Galvanized components with an epoxy resin powder coating

Niedax products marked with C1 are batch galvanized and coated with an epoxy resin coating with a thickness of 60-80 μm. When used indoors, this plastic coating ensures very good corrosion protection and high mechanical resistance. It is also resistant to most chemicals.

The zinc coating is therefore protected from atmospheric and chemical influences by the overlying coating. Removal of the metallic zinc is avoided, so that the zinc coating remains in mint condition for a long time under the coating. We are happy to offer you other coatings for special outdoor applications and higher corrosion protection classes.

Painting with zinc dust paint

The zinc dust paint should be such that the dry film contains more than 90 % zinc/aluminum. To avoid cracking in the coating, the paint should be applied in several coats.

Application examples in connection with the Niedax program

Reworking, in particular of installation-related damage to the piece-galvanized surface due to weld seams or similar.

Galvanising processes that are not galvanising processes

Coating systems such as zinc dust and zinc flake coatings are often mentioned in the same breath when talking about "galvanising". However, these zinc-containing coating systems do not fulfill the common element of all the aforementioned processes: the application of a metallic coating consisting essentially of zinc.
