The Model Guideline on Fire Protection Requirements for Piping Systems (MLAR) applies to:
Cable systems in necessary corridors
Cable systems in rooms between necessary stairwells and exits to the outside
Cable systems in necessary stairwells
Ensuring the circuit integrity maintenance of electrical cables in the event of fire
Anterooms and safety airlocks required by building regulations
If electrical wiring systems are laid above fire protection suspended ceilings in accordance with section 3.5 MLAR, the special requirements regarding the fire-safe fastening of the cables laid in the area between the storey ceilings and fire protection suspended ceilings must be observed.
This means: In the event of fire, the function of fire protection suspended ceilings must not be impaired by surrounding components (electrical installations, ventilation systems, pipelines, etc.). This ensures that escape and rescue routes can be used for the prescribed period of 30, 60 or 90 minutes.
In case of fire:
cable management systems and / or their components do not fall onto the fire protection suspended ceiling,
connections between cable tray lengths or between cable tray lengths and fittings do not come loose and
no mechanical loads due to the deformation of the cable management systems act on the fire protection suspended ceilings.
Anchors with a general building authority approval (abZ), a german classification report (aBG) or a European Technical Assessment (ETA) with information on load capacity under fire exposure must be used to fasten the cable management systems.
In addition, the values specified in Table 11.1 of DIN 4102 Part 4 for the maximum permissible tensile and shear stress of unprotected steel parts depending on the duration of the fire exposure must be taken into account.
